“Body search detectors should be used in hospitals and weapons should not be allowed inside”

While the incidents of violence against health workers are increasing day by day, the issue of what improvements can be made to the security measures taken is being discussed. Asil Bostancı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asil Security, explained his work on the measures that can be taken.

Drawing attention to the increase in violent incidents in the pandemic, Asil Bostancı said, ”First of all, the pandemic disrupted people's balance, the fear of death made people aggressive. This increased the tendency towards violence in people. Even people who have never been to the hospital are now at the hospital door.”.

Stating that health workers are affected in this process, Bostancı said, “Fatigue, intensive examination and the risk of illness also affect health workers. Patient relatives do not think about this process. For this reason, there are often tensions and arguments. One of our surgeons was stabbed and became unable to perform surgery,” he said.

“BODY SEARCH DETECTORS SHOULD BE USED IN HOSPITALS...”

Referring to the importance of the use of body search detectors in hospitals in terms of security, Asil Bostancı said, ”There is no body search detector in any hospital except a few hospitals in Turkey. You enter the hospital like entering a tea garden. Most of the detectors in the best hospitals are not successful against heavy materials, they are ordinary detectors. Simpler devices are used instead of the top model devices at the airport. Door detectors should be placed in front of all private and public hospitals. Trained personnel must be used and weapons must not be brought in at the entrances. Otherwise, we cannot solve this issue.”.

“JUST AS YOU CAN'T BRING A GUN INTO A HOSPITAL WHEN YOU GO TO WATCH A MATCH, YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO BRING A GUN INTO A HOSPITAL”

Drawing attention to the increasing incidents of armed attacks in hospitals, the businessman said, ”Even if you go to the best hospital, if you have a licensed gun, they take the licence and process it, but the gun stays on you. When you go to watch a match in a football field, you should not bring weapons, cutting and piercing tools into the hospital, just as you cannot bring weapons, cutting and piercing tools into the hospital. Likewise, this applies to other institutions. Just as you cannot enter the district governor's office with a gun, you should not be able to enter the tax office, SSK or the health centre. The state has given you this licence, but you should not be able to bring it everywhere. However, unfortunately, there is a deficit in our country regarding this issue.”.

“TRAINING OF SECURITY PERSONNEL SHOULD BE INCREASED”

Pointing out that the training of security personnel is insufficient in the current system, Asil Bostancı emphasised the importance of increasing these trainings and that security personnel should become more qualified personnel.
